The earlier parts of this series explained what each CBET document is and how to write it. This part shows how to produce the whole set (Learning Plan, Session Plans, Record of Work, Assessments and notes) in a fraction of the time with CBET Planner. It follows the same order you'd work in during a real term.
What CBET Planner does
CBET Planner is an AI-powered documentation platform built for Kenyan TVET trainers by Marzley Tech Solutions. You give it your unit's official documents and your class details; it produces the documents your institution asks for, in the formats it uses:
| Tool | What you get | Price |
|---|---|---|
| Learning Plans | A term-long plan in the Ministry or KSTVET template | KES 40 (KES 100 per-week ZIP) |
| Session Plans | BOPPPS or KSTVET session plans from your Learning Plan | KES 10 (KES 9 each in bulk) |
| Record of Work | A dated KSTVET Record of Work Covered | KES 20 |
| Assessments | TVET CDACC written papers, marking schemes, practical tools, checklists and assessor guides | KES 50 (KES 80 written + practical, Modules 3–8) |
| Notes Library | Topic notes, flashcards and quizzes by unit | Free to read; KES 10 per page or KES 100 per unit to download |
| Curriculum Extractor | Units, outcomes and content pulled out of a CU or OS | Free |
| CU/OS Downloads | Official curricula and Occupational Standards | Free |
| My Documents | Everything you've generated, in one place | Free |
Before you start
- No account is needed to explore or generate. A free account keeps your documents in My Documents.
- Have your M-Pesa phone with you; you'll approve an STK push for each paid document.
- Get the unit's documents: the Curriculum and the Occupational Standard, ideally as DOCX.
- Know your class details: class name, number of trainees, level, weeks in the term, lessons per week and class days.
Step 1: Get the curriculum and Occupational Standard
Open CU/OS Downloads and find the official documents for your unit. If you have a full programme curriculum with many units, the free Curriculum Extractor pulls out each unit's outcomes and content, and can send a unit straight into a new Learning Plan.
DOCX gives the best results
Word documents keep their tables intact, so units, outcomes, elements and performance criteria are read accurately. PDFs and clear photos work too.
Step 2: Generate the Learning Plan
- Choose the template
Ministry Recommended or KSTVET, whichever your institution submits.
- Upload the Curriculum and Occupational Standards
After each upload, a pop-up shows what was read: the unit name and code, and the learning outcomes (curriculum) or elements with performance criteria (OS). Correct the unit name or code right there if needed, or upload a different file if the wrong one went in.
- Fill in your class details
Trainer, class, number of trainees, level, term, weeks, lessons per week and class days. Optionally add your institution's name and logo.
- Set the plan options
Unit category, assessment weeks, and whether you want one document or one per week.
- Confirm and pay
Review the summary, then pay KES 40 (or KES 100 for per-week documents) with M-Pesa.
- Preview and download
Check the plan, then download it as Word or PDF.
Want to understand every column the plan contains? Read What is a Learning Plan?
Step 3: Generate Session Plans
- Upload the Learning Plan you generated
CBET Planner reads its sessions, so every session plan matches the plan.
- Choose BOPPPS or KSTVET
And either one session (pick the week and session) or Mass Generation for the whole term.
- Set the session length
Use your real lesson duration.
- Pay and download
KES 10 per session plan, or KES 9 each with Mass Generation, downloaded together.
See What is a Session Plan? for the BOPPPS model explained.
Step 4: Generate the Record of Work
Upload the same Learning Plan, enter the date the class starts and tick the days it meets. CBET Planner assigns a real date to each session and produces a KSTVET Record of Work Covered for KES 20. Keep its remarks up to date as the term runs. More in What is a Record of Work?
Step 5: Create assessments
Open Assessments, enter the unit details and choose the module and assessment type. For Modules 1 and 2 you'll upload your Learning Plan so the assessment matches what you taught. You get TVET CDACC-format tools (written paper and marking scheme, practical assessment, observation checklist and assessor guide) for KES 50, or KES 80 for written and practical together (Modules 3–8). Review every tool before use. More in Competency-based assessment.
Step 6: Share notes with trainees
Open the Notes Library, find your unit and point trainees to its topic notes, flashcards and quizzes. Reading online is free; download a page for KES 10 or the whole unit for KES 100. More in CBET notes for trainees.
How payment works
- Click Generate
A payment window opens on the same page showing the price.
- Enter your M-Pesa number
And tap Pay. An STK push arrives on your phone within seconds.
- Enter your M-Pesa PIN on your phone
Stay on the page. CBET Planner detects the payment and starts generating automatically.
- If something goes wrong
Use "Try payment again" if the prompt didn't arrive. If you paid but the document didn't appear (for example, you closed the tab), click "Already paid but didn't get your document?" and enter the M-Pesa code from your confirmation SMS to get it without paying again.
One M-Pesa code = one document
Every payment's M-Pesa code can generate exactly one document, for the document type it was paid for. Entering a code that has already produced a document doesn't generate a second one; it gives you a link to redownload the original (files are kept for a few days). If a payment never produced anything, the same code lets you generate it.
Tips for the best results
- Upload the right unit. Check the unit name and code in the pop-up after each upload.
- Upload both the curriculum and the OS: the curriculum gives the outcomes and content; the OS gives the benchmarks.
- Enter your real timetable (weeks, lessons per week, class days) so sessions and dates are realistic.
- Always review before submitting. CBET Planner gives you a strong, correctly formatted draft; you know your class, workshop and institution best.
- Create a free account so every document stays in My Documents.

Frequently asked questions
What is CBET Planner?
CBET Planner is an AI-powered documentation platform for Kenyan TVET trainers, built by Marzley Tech Solutions. It turns a unit's Curriculum and Occupational Standards into ready-to-use Learning Plans, Session Plans, Records of Work, Assessments and trainee notes, in Ministry, KSTVET and TVET CDACC formats.
Do I need an account to use CBET Planner?
No. You can open the dashboard, explore every tool and generate documents as a guest. A free account keeps everything you generate in My Documents so you can find it again later.
How much does CBET Planner cost?
There is no subscription. You pay per document with M-Pesa: Session Plans from KES 10 (KES 9 each with Mass Generation), Record of Work KES 20, Learning Plan KES 40 (KES 100 for the per-week ZIP), and Assessments KES 50 (KES 80 for written and practical together, Modules 3 to 8). The Curriculum Extractor, CU/OS downloads and guides are free, and Notes Library topics are free to read online.
Which file type should I upload?
DOCX works best for curricula and Occupational Standards, because the text and tables can be read accurately. PDF and clear photos or scans also work. After each upload CBET Planner shows what it extracted (unit title, code and learning outcomes or elements) so you can confirm or correct it.
What if I paid but did not get my document?
On the payment screen, click Already paid but didn't get your document? and enter the M-Pesa code from your confirmation SMS. If that payment hasn't produced a document yet, CBET Planner generates it without charging you again. Each M-Pesa code can only generate one document: if the code was already used, you get a link to redownload that document (files are kept for a few days) instead of a second one.
Can I edit the documents CBET Planner generates?
Yes. You can preview each document and download it as an editable Word file or as a PDF, so you can adjust anything before you print or submit it.
